The Captain
Jerwon L. Avery of Rock Hill, South Carolina, is a respected fraternal leader, community advocate, and technology professional with more than 30 years of dedicated service. Elected to the Board of Directors of the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine in 2014, he now serves as Imperial Assistant Rabban, helping guide the international organization. A Past Potentate of Menzel Temple No. 35 and the longtime Imperial Deputy of the Desert of South Carolina, Avery has strengthened programs across the state expanding Desert Conference participation, increasing charitable contributions, establishing youth, scholarship, and veteran initiatives, and building partnerships that support civic engagement.


A committed Mason and Shriner, he has held leadership roles across multiple houses, including Past Master of Four Cross Lodge No. 109, Past Commander in Chief of Lancaster Consistory No. 254 (33°), and officer positions within HRAM, R&SM, Knights Templar, and the United Supreme Council. He is also a Life Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., a member of Sterling Lodge No. 344 (IBPOEW), and an active participant in community service organizations.
Avery holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems with a concentration in Cybersecurity and has served since 2014 as Manager of the North American Software Division for Cummins Sales and Service North America. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James N. Avery, the father of Jordan J. Avery, and a member of China Grove A.M.E. Zion Church.
